All Stars Cricket has taken off in a big way at Aston Ingham Cricket Club. A total of 31 boys and girls between the ages of four and eight signed up for the new English Cricket Board (ECB) Initiative, which got under way at Stockings Field on Friday, May 26th, under glorious blue skies.
The initiative, which lasts eight weeks is very much about learning the basic skills of batting, bowling and fielding, in a game-based, fun environment.
Each child who signed up for the scheme received a t-shirt with their name on, and a rucksack of kwik cricket kit.
Parental involvement is actively encouraged, especially between sessions to aid their childrens’ development.
The 45 minute sessions are taking place early on Friday evenings, before the club’s main junior practice - meaning in total there are 80-90 youngsters learning cricket at the club on a Friday evening, with up to ten ECB qualified coaches helping out from within the club.
