Wormelow 3rd XI welcomed Hay-on-Wye 1st XI to Kingstone High School, after winning the toss the Hay captain opted to bat first against the prolific home attack.

Young opening bowler, Jake Edmonds (2-28), was soon in the wickets, and he received good support from another youngster, Alex Whittal, who conceded just 17 runs from his allotted ten overs.

Wily veteran Mick Merrick picked up 2-17 whilst canny spinner Dan Hale had the best figures of the day with 3-18. The visitors dismissed for 84 in the 37th over.

In reply Wormelow got off to a shaky start with the top four only notching a total of 11 runs. Hale came in at number five and batted with great maturity to shepherd the rest of the batting line up to the target. Victory eventually came in the 27th over for the loss of seven wickets. Hale remained unbeaten on 27.

Wormelow travel to face local rivals Brockhampton 4ths this week as they look to move back up to second spot in the table.
