Hartpury Academy golfer James Dobbs, 18, from Ross, has been chosen to play for England Schools in their Home International clash with Scotland in September. The selection followed his recent third place in the English Schools National Championships at the Kendleshire GC in Bristol, finishing just one shot behind the eventual winner.

The tournament marked the end of James' time at the academy and was a fitting climax to a two-year spell in which he improved his handicap by seven shots, from -6 to +1. During this time he became a key member of the Hartpury College team which reached the finals of the Intercollegiate Tour, individually finishing second in the Order of Merit.

James has also been selected for the Gloucestershire Gold squad during 2012 and has performed well in county matches. He plays locally at both Forest Hills and Ross Golf Clubs.

Richard King, Academy Manager at Hartpury, said "James has shown what can be achieved with dedication, commitment and hard work. We wish him the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and for his international appearance in September."
