In bleak grey conditions with persistent rain Ross Juniors U10 Colts took to the picturesque Orleston Black pitch, hoping to build on the good performance of last week with a better result – which they achieved with a 2-7 win.

Colts made a bright start with several good chances which the Orleston keeper saved but the half time score was 0-2

The second half started evenly with Owen and Alfie putting in good crosses. Callum put an effort just wide and Ed was pulling the strings for Colts in midfield. Black had a good attack which led to a corner but from this Callum ran from a deep left back position to run almost the full length of the field and put the ball across the Orleston keeper to score. The naturally left footed Callum displayed some good wing play and passed to Alfie to score with the outside of his boot. A throw from Ed went to Alfie who passed to Callum who put the ball wide. Alfie then had a tricky run through but the ball was saved on the line. Then the ball cannoned off the post and went to Ed, who scored with a long shot. Alfie shot over, but soon after he completed his hat-trick tricking his way through and slotting home. A Colts’ corner led to Ed shooting over from a long shot.

Black got a deserved goal after some tenacious play and they were back in the game for a time. Isaac made a great save and from this William broke and out sprinted the Orleston defence, he then robbed the Orelston left back and his shot hit the side net. Orleston attacked but a good save led to them collecting the rebound and scoring. The match finished with Colts hitting a long ball to William who passed to Callum to slam the ball home.

It was a great performance by Colts and Alfie must be commended for his hat-trick.
