A THUMPING 5-0 Wildsmith Meadow win over Banbury United sent Newent Town into a first cup final in eight years on Saturday.
Semi-final victory in the UHL Supplementary Challenge Cup marked another huge milestone, in a season that has seen them reach the FA Vase first round for the first time, and a best-ever points tally in Hellenic One, with promotion still up for grabs.
Sam Judge fired them in front after 13 minutes before Luke Firkins with his first Daffs goal doubled the lead three minutes later.
And just before the half hour, Newent were in complete control, Kyle Taylor letting fly with a left-foot shot that flew into the top corner for 3-0.
Five minutes into the second half and the Daffs were in dreamland, Firkins firing his second for 4-0.
And a fifth from Dylan Hart late on put the icing on the cake, with either Shortwood or Alcester their opponents in the final.
The club posted: "Yesterday marked another huge milestone in what has been a fantastic season, as we secured our place in the UHL Supplementary Challenge Cup Final.
"We’re incredibly proud of the collective effort from our players, volunteers, and management team.
"In their first season in charge, Luke Handley and Zaq Hussain have done a brilliant job, with the team continuing to go from strength to strength."
Elsewhere, Ruardean Hill bagged a huge three points at the Rec, coming from 2-0 down against mid-table Stoke Gifford to win 3-2 to move four points clear of the Gloucestershire League drop zone.
A great Ollie Mason run was ended after he was felled in the box after 20 minutes, but Steve Clark’s penalty drew a great save from Taylor Smith.
And five minutes later Hill failed to defend their lines and Patryk Kosciolek fired Gifford in front, before Stella Lopez doubled the lead on 34 minutes, lobbing Hill keeper Aaron Underwood after a corner.
But five minutes before the break, Clark produced a lovely turn and fired in for 1-2.
And Hill levelled mid-way through the second period when a one-two with Alex Stephens saw Luke Brown break through and score.
A Clark shot then struck the post before Brown was put through again on 75 minutes, the ball breaking his way from the challenge to slot in to an empty net for 3-2.
Meanwhile, basement boys Mitcheldean suffered a miserable day losing 9-0 at Gloucestershire Northern 2 high fliers Wickwar, but Howle Hill hit an incredible sweet 16 without reply at Weston playing fields against an under-strength Ellwood.
Filling their boots in the one-sided North Gloucestershire Premier goal fest were Joe Thomas with four, Joe Griffiths, Ollie Evans and Conner Watkins with braces, and Callum Hall, Ben Fletcher, Jono Wright, Craig Davies and Charlie Gwilliam with one apiece.
Second-placed Huntley also won 5-2 at home to Broadwell 2nds, Will Freeman firing a brace and Reuben Fishpool, Alfie Sheppard and Marc Matthews the others.
Two Ryan Brace goals secured a 2-2 NG1 home draw for Lydbrook 2nds against Tidenham, but Ruardean United were rolled over 6-1 by visitors Redbrook.
Longhope missed out 2-1 in the quarter-final of the JO Roberts Cup away to Harrow Hill 2nds, Liam James with the consolation.
But a Connor Dix hat-trick, two from Jean Luc Alveraz and one from Liam Histed helped Mitcheldean 2nds to a 6-2 NG2 home win over Milkwall 2nds.
