THE young Ross Juniors Women's side bowed out of the Adobe FA Women's Cup after fighting hard against higher-ranked Yate Town.

It was only 1-0 to the South Gloucestershire visitors at the break after a 42nd-minute opener, but the older team’s physicality showed in the second half as they scored four more in 21 second-half minutes to win 5-0.

Yate added a second on 56 minutes and then three goals in seven minutes (70. 76, 77) sealed the deal in the second qualifying round clash.

But Juniors, who won two rounds to make the tie, posted: "There were so many positives to take.

“The girls showed fantastic resilience, worked tirelessly and stuck to our structure throughout, making life difficult for a very strong Yate side.

"The experience gained from games like this is invaluable, and the girls can be incredibly proud of their performance and attitude from start to finish.

"A massive thank you to Yate Town for their kind words and for recognising the quality and potential within our young squad."

It ’s back to league action in the Mid West Counties this Sunday (September 27) when they visit Sporting Inkberrow.

Ross Juniors Ladies are also in league action the same afternoon, visiting Westfields Ladies in Hereford having won their opener 12-0 at Newtown.
