FOWNHOPE FC were up for the cup under the floodlights on Friday night as they walloped Worcester United 2nds 5-1 at Malvern Town FC on Friday.

Braces from Joshua Hunt and Brandon Jennings, plus a goal from Jamie Price secured the victory to put them into the next round of the Herefordshire Junior Cup.

Newent Town 2nds also went through with a 3-0 win away to Ledbury 2nds, Benjamin Areli, Josh Coakley and Riley Hall with the goals which all came in the first half.

Elsewhere, Lydbrook Athletic A secured a 3-3 draw at home to Woolaston 2nds in North Gloucestershire League 2, with their first point of the season lifting them out of the bottom two.

Mitcheldean 2nds were beaten 3-0 away to Westbury United 2nds, but stay a place ahead of Lydbrook having won one of their three games to date.

But Longhope 2nds were on anything but Cloud Nine in North Gloucestershire 3, as they were nuked 9-0 away to Broadwell Amateurs A.

And Ruardean United 2nds didn't fare much better either, as they were lost 8-1 at home to Staunton & Corse 2nds, their sole consolation coming from a Shaun Bick strike.

Newent Town 2nds host bottom side Hinton 1sts in Herefordshire League One at Wildsmith Meadow this Saturday (September 26), kick-off 2.30pm, and will want to kick on from their cup win by adding to their sole league victory from their four opening matches.

Fownhope host Holme Lacey 2nds in Herefordshire 2 and by contrast will be looking to keep their unbeaten run going, after three wins out of three sees them second with games in hand on leaders Burghill Rangers.
