LYDBROOK Athletic lashed basement boys Fintan 6-0 at their Wyeside Reeds Sports Ground on Saturday, with all the goals from different scorers.

It was only 1-0 at the break, but the hosts then took control to secure an emphatic Gloucestershire Northern 2 victory, with Finlay Morris, James Matthews, Jamie Hosford, Jason Heaphy, Benedict Harris and sub Jack Palmer on target.

Their second win of the season saw them leapfrog Huntley to eighth, with the latter drawing 1-1 at home to Blakeney on Saturday, Jack Bright putting them in front in the first half only for Bailey James to level things up after the break

Elsewhere, two goals from Joe Thomas helped fire Howle Hill to a 3-0 North Gloucestershire Premier away win over Lydney Town A.

It was 0-0 at the break, but the Weston-based village side then took control, Thomas firing a brace backed by one from Tom Evans to leave them second in the table.

Longhope narrowly lost 2-1 at home to early table toppers Redbrook Rovers, with six one-on-one saves by the hosts' keeper helping to keep them in the game until the final whistle.

Zak Morgan fed Jake Teague with a through ball on 17 minutes for the Rovers opener before 2025 Welsh Schools Cup winner Callum Wilding followed his five debut goals in 18 minutes with another strike on the half hour to make it 2-0.

Longhope responded with a 20-yard Peter Webb half-volley deceiving an unsighted Redbrook keeper before the break for 2-1 and pushed for a leveller in the second period, but Brook held firm to take the points.

Mitcheldean, relegated from Gloucestershire Northern 2 last season, were blitzed 5-0 away to Broadwell Amateurs A.

But like their 1sts, Lydbrook 2nds were on fire beating visitors Ellwood 4-1 to go top thanks to goals from Lee Morton, Ryan Wilks, Jack Calicott and Jonathan Griffiths.

Ruardean United also saw off Whitecroft 5-2 at home thanks to an Alex Rowles brace and goals from Callum Price, Oliver Pearson and Leo Mudie Jones.

Neighbours Ruardean Hill 2nds had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Sling at St Briavels, Alfie Nichols their scorer.

But Lydbrook A were lashed 7-0 away to Blakeney 2nds in their first NG3 game, while Mitcheldean 2nds missed out 4-2 at home to Soudley 2nds, Ben Didcote and Tyler Kibble with the consolations.

Longhope 2nds were also on the receiving end of a 6-1 reverse away to Redbrook Rovers 2nds in NG3, Andres Venegas cutting the deficit to 2-1 after half an hour before the hosts ran away with it.

And Ruardean Hill A lost by the odd goal in seven, Jordan Wayman with a brace and one from Oliver Swan their scorers in a 4-3 defeat away to Rank Outsiders 2nds.

Fownhope didn’t play last week, but will be looking for a fourth straight Herefordshire League 2 win away to Worcester United 2nds on Friday night (September 18).
