THIRD travelled to take on fourth in the Midwest Counties Female League on Sunday, with Ross Juniors Women securing a fantastic 3-1 away win in their penultimate game of the season, ensuring at least a top-three finish.

Ross made the trip up the M5 to face Redditch Borough, knowing three points would leave the hosts unable to overhaul them.

And a dominant first-half performance saw Lauren Creed open the scoring before Millie Malsom – a 13-goal scorer in the two previous games – double the lead before the break.

Redditch came out strongly in the second half and pulled a goal back through Olivia Scott, but the young Ross side showed great maturity to respond.

Kaci Johnson helped settle things after coming on, before Creed bravely followed up Malsom’s saved shot to grab her second and seal the win.

Juniors posted: "A brilliant team performance from a squad showing maturity well beyond their years."

While Evesham United Women have secured the title with 74 points, Juniors can still overhaul Dudley Town Ladies to second in the final round of games.

Juniors host 11th-placed Wyre Forest Phoenix on Sunday, May 31 (2pm), while Dudley two points above have a potentially tougher challenge away to sixth-placed Worcester City Lionesses the same afternoon.
