NEWENT Town have confirmed a fresh management team to lead the club into the 2025/26 season, marking the start of an exciting new era at Wildsmith Meadow.

Luke Handley has been named first team manager, supported by assistant manager Zaq Hussain and UEFA B-qualified coach Simon Craddock.

The club says the trio bring a strong mix of leadership, tactical knowledge and non-league experience as the Daffs aim to progress both on and off the pitch.

Handley, who was most recently in charge at Perrywood AFC and has also had a spell with Upton Town, stood out to the committee for his professionalism, vision, and commitment to player development.

Speaking after his appointment, Handley said: “Delighted to be back in the game. Hard work starts now.”

Returning to the club is Hussain, a well-liked figure among supporters thanks to a short but impactful spell during the 2022/23 season, where he netted three goals in just six games. Since then, he’s gone on to develop his game at clubs including Worcester City, Worcester Raiders and Pershore Town.

He said: “New adventure. Can’t wait to get started.”

Craddock joins the setup with a strong coaching background in grassroots and non-league football. With a UEFA B licence and experience at New Dales Vale, Ledbury Town, Bredon and Perrywood, he’s regarded as a coach with a deep understanding of tactics and a passion for developing players.

He said: “Pleased to be part of this new journey and to support Luke and Zaq as joint managers, to take this team where it belongs.”

A club spokesperson said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Luke, Zaq and Simon to Wildsmith Meadow. Their combined experience, passion and understanding of the game is exactly what we need to take the club forward. There’s a real buzz around the club and we’re confident this team can build something special.”
