Ross Juniors U17s welcomed Bromyard on Sunday afternoon and had to settle for a 2 – 2 draw.
The visitors started well, playing some good football and using their pace up front really well which put the home side under pressure early on but the Ross defence coped well and James raced out of his goal to make a couple of key clearances.
Midway through the first half Ross took the lead when the Bromyard defence struggled to cope with Max’s free kick and Charlie was on hand to put it away with a fine left foot volley. Harry had three great chances to grab a goal as he narrowly missed Myles’ corner which went straight across the goal-line and then hit two fantastic strikes that the Bromyard keeper somehow tipped around the post.
Bromyard started the second half on the front foot and couldn’t believe it when Will, Dan and Max made crucial tackles and clearances to keep them out. Bromyard missed an easy chance before they eventually equalised and then shortly after took the lead. The Bromyard keeper made another great save to maintain his side’s lead and Nat went close after playing a 1 – 2 with Myles. Nat’s hard work up front eventually paid off as he equalised with a headed lob over the keeper. Ross then went in search of a late winner.
As the game entered the final minute Myles sent in another dangerous corner which, following a goal-line scramble, Wilf struck the post and Bromyard managed to clear.
There were many great performances from the home side but, with some vital tackles in defence, William ‘the Marshall’ was awarded man of the match.
