The Herefordshire Futsal Tournament kicked off in January at Weobley High School. After two rounds, Ross-on-Wye Under 8 Girls finished top of the group winning a place in the final.

Playing against Belmont, it was a very close, nail-biting final. Drawing 0-0 at half time after a number of attempts by Kate and Elsie failing to beat the excellent Belmont goalkeeping, the girls eventually successfully retained the title with a 2-0 win.

Both goals were scored by this season’s top scorer, Elsie with Summer, as goalie, saving a number of great attempts by Belmont, with her quick distribution ensuring Ross was immediately back on the attack.

Kate and Sophie worked tenaciously in mid field, with Ella defending well and successfully completing an impressive last minute tackle to keep Belmont at bay. Captain Imogen worked brilliantly in both attack and defence and was delighted to receive the J Wright trophy.

Ross Under 8s are looking for new players. Training takes place at the Sports Centre in Wilton on Monday nights from 5pm until 6pm. Call Laura on 07775 516799 for further information.
