It was a beautiful day for tennis on Sunday, October 3rd although the low lying winter sun did cause some issues on the one side of the court. Goodrich ‘E’liminators  arrived in plenty of time for a good warm up at Woolhope to play their ‘C’ team in Division 6 West of the Hereford & Worcester Winter League.

First pair, Shani Courtney and Debs Trigg, found their first match was very evenly balanced and it could have gone either way. There were some long games going to deuce on more than one occasion. The match lasted well over an hour with Shani and Debs eventually coming out winners, 7-5 / 7-5.  Their second match against the Woolhope second pair finished a lot sooner, although it proved challenging at times, but they recorded a 6-4 / 6-4 victory.

Goodrich second pair, Di Webb and Lisa Bolster, although having never played together before, battled well in their first rubber narrowly missing winning the first set losing it 5-7, and the second set wasn’t to be in their favour either, this time 3-6. They soon found their mojo in the second match where they learned each other’s strengths to take the two sets with ease, 6-3 / 6-1, much to their delight.  The ‘E’liminators next match is on Sunday, 10th November, at Goodrich, when they will play host to Kempsey ‘C’.  For more information about Goodrich Tennis Club,  please contact: [email protected] or visit the website: www.goodrichtennis.co.uk
