The South Herefordshire Senior’s annual Gary Martin Trophy attracted an entry of 54 members divided in to 18 teams of three. The competition was played in very difficult conditions which was reflected by the scores.

There were four competitors with a score of 35 stableford points. However, on count back, Laurie Cork retained the trophy he won last year, with Roger Barnes runner up, and Roger Watkins in third place. The winning team members were: Laurie Cork, Peter Sawyer and Jim Delahay with 78 point (best two scores) and Malcolm Connah, John Arrowsmith and John Harper were one shot behind on 77.

The seniors match at Forest of Dean ended in a win for South Herefordshire 4.5 to 3.5. It was a very close match with the result in the balance until the end. The last pair, John Duvall & Eifion Rees, had a one hole advantage going up the last however, only managed a half which was enough for overall victory. The other results were as follows: Wins for Mike Boucher & David Rippe 8&7, Malcolm Connah & Brian Spencer 4&3, Barry Howells & Tony Haile 5&4 and Henry Rivers & John Barnett 1up. Loses for Geoff Eyres & Simon Rutter 2&1, Steve Mills & Peter Sawyer 4&3 and Fred Cook and Martin Latham one down.
