Ross-on-Wye Club hosted the Herefordshire Golf Club’s Ladies Championships on Saturday, June 4th.

The course was in excellent condition as the club had recently been the venue for the English Senior Amateur Ladies Competition. Ross is a woodland course, and was looking very attractive with the trees providing plenty of challenges for competitive golf. The weather was kind, and the competition was played in perfect golfing temperatures. 66 ladies entered from eight golf clubs across the county.

The Ross-on-Wye Ladies Captain warmly welcomed the ladies and thanked them for attending before the announcement of the results.

The Herefordshire Clubs Ladies champion for 2016 is Jan Armstrong, from Ross-on-Wye, with a gross score of 84 and in second place, also from Ross-on-Wye, Pat Watkins with a gross score of 87.

The winner of the nett prize was Pauline Smith (20) from Burghill Valley with a score of 69, winning on countback from Lesley Colquhoun (20) from South Herefordshire, who also scored a nett 69. The team prize went to South Herefordshire with Burghill Valley in second place and Ross-on-Wye in third.
