All sections within the Gorsley-based Ross Golf Club can currently point to examples of the much improved performance standards experienced by their respective members thanks to the ’continuous improvement’ culture and ’School of Golf’ coaching structures introduced in 2012 when Head Professional Tim Hall and his team were appointed.

Exciting evidence of this has emerged during the past few weeks when Neil Lancett as Manager and non-playing Captain of the Ross Club’s Men’s A team, which is coached by Tim Hall, was able to collect two major trophies on his team’s behalf for their remarkable successes in this season’s North Gloucestershire Foursomes League.

The League has been in existence since 1955 and is represented by 16 Golf Club’s from the Gloucestershire County, plus the Herefordshire based Ross Club, and split into 3 Divisions, with Ross competing at the top level in 2018 after winning the Division 2 title last year. In a nail-biting finish, Neil’s team became Division 1 Champions recently for the first time in their history after winning 6 of their 10 matches played throughout the Summer. Cirencester Golf Club were the runners-up after both teams scored 12 points each and the ’holes differential’ decided the outcome in the Ross Club’s favour.

Neil was quick to praise all 18 players for their commitment and support by taking part in this scratch foursomes match play format and he felt fortunate that he had been able to include in every match a competitive mix of youth and experience.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
