The annual event set-aside by Ross Golf Club to enable its elected President to organise his President’s Prize day, again found favour with all sections represented among the 121 members that took part in full appreciation of having Doug Duncanson in his third ambassadorial year as Club President.
Another highly successful day was the outcome and Godfrey Farr, runner-up in Doug’s 2017 event, was able to top the final score-sheet on this occasion, and his 43 stableford points score made him a clear winner to also earn him a 2 shots handicap reduction to 14.
An impressive 25 points total on Godfrey’s back 9 holes, which included two birdies, proved crucial, leaving Martin Davies, Simon Buck and Simon Williams, who all carded 41 point totals, to claim runners - up prizes. They were followed by Richard Hall, Norman Lodge, Colin Bennion and David Daniels, who all scored 40 points and were also able to avoid going home empty handed.
Pat Johnson was delighted with her equally impressive 40 points total to win the ladies prize and the 36 points carded by Rhys McGinley won him the best score by a Junior Member.
Doug was able to present a prize to his son, Alex, whose drive up the sixth fairway earned him the longest drive prize and there were nearest the pin prizes for Robin Darling, Colin Gladwyn and Jim Orme.
