After their Christmas Competition in December was sacrificed due to the snow, the seniors members at the Ross Golf Club looked forward to the 30+ Xmas Prizes that were up for grabs when 58 took part in their traditional three Clubs and a putter, 16 holes stableford event.
In addition to the bracing walk and a good lunch, members were greeted by delightful winter sunshine.
28 handicapper, Peter Reynolds’ 33 points score made him the day’s No 1 performer, including making pars at all the par three holes in a remarkable spate of scoring that witnessed Peter amassing 16 points over a mere six holes journey.
Also enjoying the best pick of the abundance of fayre were runners-up Barry Le Feuvre and the ubiquitous Colin Price also with 33 points each, with both missing out on the top spot on count-back.
18 handicapper David Beavan, welcomed as a relative newcomer to the Ross ranks, made a name for himself and defied his expectations with a praiseworthy 32 points score, followed by Peter Cliffe, David Williams, Club Vice Captain Robert Tuttiett and Steve Crooks, with 31 points each.
With Don Punnett, Roger Alford, Nick Swan and David Crocker with 30 points each and many others also benefiting, the loudest cheer was saved for the final prize-winner noted at the bottom of a very long prize list in Peter Hall.
The Mens Seniors members now have a drawn greensomes’ pairs event to look forward to on February 7th and a drawn three man Florida Scramble medal competition on March 7th.
Their March 2nd Annual Dinner, the highlight of their social programme and an opportunity for their Ladies to be entertained, will be well supported because the occasion is already close to being sold out!
