Ross Golf Club’s latest major for its men members witnessed 101 entrants aiming for free entry to their Club’s forthcoming Pro-Am competition which takes place at the Gorsley based tree-lined course on Thursday, August 29th.

The qualifier was played from the testing white tees reflected in the course standard scratch score being 73 for the day and nine handicapper, Steve Price, was delighted to see his name at the top of the final score-sheet after his accomplished net medal 70 outcome.

With just three shots dropped to par in his opening nine holes, this gave Steve the required impetus and a welcome birdie at the challenging 11th hole. Some steady play thereafter resulted in his win with a one shot handicap reduction to eight fully justified.

Thanks to the Ross Club’s dedicated investment policy in young people in recent years, some of their current 145 Juniors members section inevitably feature in these events.

On this occasion, it was 12-year-old, 19 handicapper, Leo Powell, with an equally impressive net 70 medal score who had to settle for runner-up, missing out on the number one slot only on count back.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
