KIM Hampson has reached the half-way point in his year as Ross Golf Club Captain, which was celebrated in grand style thanks to Kim’s Annual Charity Fundraising Day to benefit his selected Charity Prostate Cancer UK.
For the 20 teams of four members each from all sections of the Club, who took part in the 18 holes Florida Medal Scramble with a shotgun start, there were a hat-full of surprises awaiting them after their completed rounds. In addition to a good quality finger buffet, members were surprised and delighted to learn that every member taking part was a prize winner, thanks to Kim’s diligence and expertise in organising generously donated prize sponsors from near and far.
With a 60.8 medal score, the winners were Richard Hall, Robert Lerigo, Murray Thomson and Alastair Watkins. Thanks go to tailor-made golfing holiday specialists Club Choice Ireland for providing the first prize of a two nights stay in Wexford Town, South East Ireland and 2 rounds of golf at Enniscorthy GC and St Helens Bay GC in a package which includes return ferry and car transport. Club Choice’s Larry Byrne was delighted to make the presentation and that his company could be associated with the standing of the Ross Club’s gem of a golf course, which has been the No 1 ranked Golf Course in Gloucestershire since the top 100 rankings system was introduced in 2012.
The whole day was a real team effort and Kim thanked everyone involved, which will see Prostate Cancer UK benefit through a massive £1800 donation and he was appreciative of the generosity of so many members, including Patrick Van Holt and Angie Clephane-Cameron the Club’s Caterers who played a key role, as did Head Professional Tim Hall and his School of Golf Team. Other teams to celebrate their high value prizes as a result of their day’s golfing performances were Club Secretary Ian Griffiths, Joe Irvine, Martin Pimlow, Clive Whitson 61.2 David Dockray, David & Graham Higdon, Elliott Thomas 62.0 and Robin Darling, Club President Doug Duncanson, Tim Fewell, John Hartle and Steve Bennett, Kevin Goff, Matt Humphries and Simon Mills who both carded 62.4 medal scores.
