Ross Golf Club’s Men’s Christmas Fayre event just missed the massive snowfalls that currently covers the Club’s Gorsley based golf course and provided 80 men members with the opportunity to acquire some fayre in readiness for the forthcoming festive season. No one was more pleased with the timing or the outcome than 11 handicapper Mark Whitmore, whose remarkable 48 stableford points total was just enough for him to deservedly take home the day’s top prize, a Hamper full of Christmas delights.

From the Club’s shortened yellow course, Mark’s round consisted of 11 pars and 4 birdies and his 1 under gross par result was also blessed with non-qualifying status, to maintain his handicap and add to the occasion. Mark was pressed hard for the top spot by 18 handicapper Antony Graham, who led the field at the half-way point with a 26 points haul and the equivalent of 1 over gross par. Antony’s final 47 points total, representing his best round since joining the Ross Club earlier this year, left him agonisingly one point short of hamper territory.

Antony was followed by Richard Tromans with 45 points and a host of 43 pointers, Stephen Price, Graham Higdon, Adrian Hope, Cam Haines and Harold Beach.

17 year old, 3 handicapper, Cam Haines, as Ross Juniors Captain and 2017 men’s Club Champion, will have been pleased to have finished his year in top form as his impressive round consisted of 14 pars and 4 birdies.

Other high scorers included Neil Lancett with 42 points, Michael Findlay, Jordan Hughes and Chris Good with 41 points each and Stuart Smith, Steve Wallbank and Harry Griffiths, with 40 points.
