There was a packed Clubhouse of Ross Golf Club members from all sections to get to know their recently appointed Course Manager Steve Dun after his predecessor Robert Wilband stepped down having been associated with the Gorsley based Club for more than 38 years.

Robert will be able to look back on those years with considerable pride and satisfaction for while in his care the Ross Course was independently recognised as ‘No 1’ in the Gloucestershire Golf Union’s Top 100 Golf Courses rankings, a position they have impressively retained since league tables were introduced in 2012.

For Steve, a Scot in his early 50s, hails originally from Galashiels and obtained his green-keeping qualifications at Oatridge College in Edinburgh with his first senior position afforded to him at Melrose Golf Club.

A family man, Steve is married to Lisle, they will continue to live in Tewkesbury and he is an accomplished golfer while at one time boasting a 7 handicap, he currently plays more conservatively to a 13 handicap. Until recently his brother Craig was Head Professional at St Pierre Marriott Hotel Golf & Country Club in Chepstow.
