In perfect weather, and ideal but challenging playing conditions, Ross Golf Club’s tree-lined course at Gorsley was well set for good scoring at the Club’s Annual Seniors 60+ Singles Open which attracts visitors from far and wide with 80% of the 150 golfers taking part represented by 40 different golf clubs.

As is customary on such occasions, it was a home player, 18 handicapper Ross Seniors Captain, Andy Baldwin, who took the spotlight with an impressive 40 stableford points score which could have been more remarkable if Andy had managed to score points on his final two holes.

James Calleja from Chipping Sodbury GC, also with 40 points recorded the best visitor’s score followed by David Jones from Copt Heath GC with 39 points, and other home players to feature and receive prizes were Colin Bennion 38 points, Stephen Bartholomew and Hugh Elliott both with 36 points.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
