At the recent Ross Golf Club AGM, members were delighted to confirm the appointment of Liam Greig as their Juniors Captain.

Liam is a relative newcomer to the Gorsley based Club, being a Gloucester boy who is currently furthering his interests in the game through study at Hartpury College. Liam has quickly shown his exceptional talent for the game, which saw him collect several trophies at the Club’s Annual Prize-giving ceremony in September 2017, including the ’most improved player’ award during a year which witnessed his handicap falling rapidly to six.

His younger brother, Jay, has also shown himself to be capable of following in Liam’s illustrious footsteps.

Liam succeeds an impressive line of ’Juniors Captains’ at the Ross Club, where the Juniors Academy, in the care of a Juniors Forum Committee and Head Professional Tim Hall and his ’School of Golf’, has developed into a vibrant and expanding brand. Liam’s predecessor Cam Haines, currently a three handicapper, is 2017 Ross Men’s Club Champion and he succeeded Sophie Price, who plays off an eight handicap and was Ross Lady Champion in 2015 and 2017.

Before Sophie, 21 year old Niall Powell, a scratch performer, is still highly regarded and fondly remembered by members and remains an integral part of the Ross Club, even though he is currently embarking upon a golfing scholarship at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa, USA. This being situated in the Cedar Rapids area where former British Open Champion, Zach Johnson made his name.
