MORE than 40 members of the Ross Golf Club’s Mens’ Seniors section took part in a 16-hole Singles stableford competition at the weekend. This was played as part of a comprehensive programme of competitions and events scheduled for the players who are 60+ years in age.
David Morgan and Tim Fewell, who did battle during the January 3rd Clubs and Putter 16 holes stableford competition, which David won, went head to head again, but David’s 39 points score proved too good on the day.
Tim finished in third place this time, finishing with 37 points. Colin Price scored 38 points to claim the runners-up prize.
Colin was able to continue his effective form after he partnered with Chris Good in the latest Round Robin Winter League match at Sapey Golf Club. Chris and Colin were the sole winners in a 6.5 points to 1.5 points Ross defeat.
Seniors Vice Captain, David Price and David Every, were the team’s other heroes. They played in the team’s final away fixture against the RR Holders Leominster, and won by just a half-point. The Ross Team now finish Champions and receive the winners’ Claret Jug Trophy for only the second time since Ross joined the League in 2008.
