Two medal competitions have kick started Ross Golf Club’s Summer programme and the Seniors midweek medal, with 84 taking part, provided the opportunity for 13 handicapper, Ian Caves, to justify the coaching investment he has enjoyed during the winter from Head Professional, Tim Hall and his School of Golf.
Ian’s gross 81, nett 68 score with nine pars and a birdie was a model of consistency and was just enough for Ian to win him the best gross prize from John Palmer’s gross 82 and Peter Bennett’s 84. In fact, Ian created a rare double in winning the best nett prize too on count-back after David Mason, Graham Weare and Colin Price joined him with nett 68 scores. Other key scorers were John Osborn and Tim Lewis with nett 69’s and John Sherahilo and Robin Taylor with nett 71s.
A few days later, 90 members supported the Club’s Yellow Tees medal and 4 handicapper Alex Duncanson will have been delighted with his remarkable nett 66 round, which included seven birdies and six pars to make him the day’s top performer by a three stroke margin. Paul Element, Harvey Hancock and Charles Reeve-Tucker followed in Alex’s wake with nett 69’s and there were nett 70’s by Craig Newman and Peter Lawrence and nett 71’s from Martin Johnson and Joe Irvine.
