The weekend’s substantial snowfalls deposited on Ross Golf Club’s tree-lined greens and fairways, which denied members taking part in their various Christmas golf competitions scheduled a few days later.

However, the difficult weather conditions were not able to prevent lady members and the men seniors section from enjoying their respective Christmas Lunches.

There was appreciation for Course Manager Rob Wilband and his squad of green-keepers for providing accessible car parking to accommodate full houses, so that Club Caterers, Patrick and Angie and their team could play their part in win/win social occasions, valued by recently appointed Lady Captain, Katie Greenwood and Seniors Captain, David Price.

For David the occasion witnessed his Seniors Captain Drive-in and his commendable 191 yards drive, undertaken in the Ross Club’s impressive indoor hitting range ’Performance Lab’ facilities, which meant that shared winners Malcolm Thornton and Peter Shaw both earned 6 Titleist PRO V1 golf balls, generously donated by the Club’s Head Professional Tim Hall and his ’School of Golf’ team.

The seniors also used the occasion to honour members who were major Cup winners in 2017 and the list included Club Vice Captain, Robert Tuttiett, after his Ernest Penn success, and Colin Price for his Keene Cup win with Robert.
