Senior men members of Ross Golf Club supported their Seniors Captain, David Williams in fine style and the 52 members who took part were splendidly rewarded in being able to spend David’s Annual Away Day at Fulford Heath Golf Club, close to the Solihull area of Birmingham.

The parkland course was in excellent condition and the perfect weather made for the ideal venue, especially as the Seniors also had Ross Club Captain, Warren Moore and Assistant Professional, Oli Leett as their valued guests.

It was 15 handicapper Stewart Jones who made the most of the occasion and his consistent play yielded an impressive 39 stableford points total, which ultimately secured him the day’s top prize.

John Allen and Graham Chick picked up prizes with 36 points each as did Doug David and John Palmer, with 35 points each.

The team prize for the highest number of combined points on the four par three holes was enjoyed by Graham Chick, Bob Cooper and Mike Archer, with Graeme Laws earning some bragging rights as the longest drive specialist of the day, and Doug David proving the most adept at finishing closest to the pin on the course’s challenging 11th hole.

The biggest winner of the day was the selected charity of Warren Moore, the Club Captain. The charity, ‘Global’s Make Some Noise’ is directly associated with Warren’s employers, Heart FM radio in Gloucester and Heart FM generously doubled the Ross Seniors support to £560.

At the prize-giving dinner party to complete a memorable day, Seniors Captain, David paid special thanks to his organising Committee represented by Stewart Ross, Tim Rigden, Keith Ray and his Vice Captain, Steve Martin and the excellent services of everyone at the Fulford Heath Club.
