The recent wet weather did not deter 80 of Ross Golf Club’s mens members who took part in their annual men’s Christmas Fayre 16 holes singles stableford competition and Club Captain Martin Pimlow and his Vice Captain Bob Baker and organiser Danny Gear ensured that there were plenty of festive prizes at stake.

15 handicapper, Andy Webb, was able to take home the day’s top prize after his impressive 37 points score made him a clear winner in a round which included eight pars and a 21 points haul from his front nine holes played. While becoming a father during the year has limited his experiences at the Gorsely based tree-lined course, Andy has certainly made the most of those occasions winning the Collins Flag honours board event in June and seeing his handicap improve from 17.

‘A’ Team stalwart, Tim Wyatt, was the deserved runner up with 36 points and a round memorable for its nine pars, two birdies and an eagle two at the 16th par four hole with Phil Thompson also carding a 36 points score. There were 35 points scores by Shaun Sturge, teenager Matty Dobbs and Steve Wallbank, 34 points totals by Stephen Forrest, and Martyn Walker and 33 points by Peter Bennett who all won meaningful prizes as did more than half of those who supported the event.
