The predominantly glorious summer weather over the past month has continued to contribute to some fine golf played by the ladies of Ross Golf Club and their guests who have come to play in the invitation and open competitions. The beauty and challenges of the course always attracts a large number of entrants and this year was no exception.

100 entrants played in the Ladies Open AmAm on July 19th. A team of visitors won with a score of 87 with Marcia MacFarlane from Ross in the runner’s up team scoring 86.

On August 10th, 60 entrants played in the Ladies Invitation Day and Ruth Kirchmeier, with her partner from the Vale, won on countback with 41 points. Mabel Day and partner came in second, with Sally Fycun and partner a close third with 40 points.

80 entrants, 67 from other clubs played in the Eclectic Open on August 14th. The format, consisting of two rounds of 13 holes, was very enjoyable. Kerry Welding and partner won with a gross score of 57 and Rosemary Williams was nearest the pin on the 12th hole.

In the club competitions on July 17th, Sophie Price won the Gordon Blake Cup and The Ladies County Vets Muriel Button Trophy was won by Pat Johnson in the silver division and Marguerite Oke in the bronze division.

On July 31st, Jan Armstrong won the Cinderford Cup with a nett 76 and Christine Baldwin won the Bronze cup with a nett 74.

On one of the few rainy days this summer, the challenging JeanReynolds/Quaich Cup 36 hole competition was held. Sally Fycun was the winner of the Jean Reynolds Cup with gross total of 175, with Denise Boughey a close second with total of 177. Pam Duke won the Quaitch Cup with a net score of 151.
