These beautiful days of blue skies and sunshine have certainly contributed to some wonderful golf played by the ladies at Ross Golf Club this summer.
On Tuesday, June 26th, Katie Greenwood held her Lady Captain’s Day in which 60 ladies took part. It was a Bowmaker team competition and the winning team was Hannah Keir, Sally Fycun and Sarah Forrest. The runners up were Lois Price, Dinah Johnson and Sara Gregson. Nearest the pin on the 7th was Mabel Day, on the 9th Dinah Johnson and on the 12th Pat Watkins.
Hannah Keir was nearest the pin in 2 on the 1st and Sue Johnson had the longest drive on the 6th. It was a very enjoyable day despite the heat, and the cold flannels, ice cream and bag of crisps were greatly appreciated after 9 holes!
On Thursday, July 12th, the Lady Captain’s Away Day was held at Fulford Heath near Birmingham. 44 ladies took part in the Bowmaker Team competition and the winning team was Mabel Day, Kay Cotton, Ellie Peake and Maggs Oke with an amazing score of 95. Hannah Keir had the longest drive and Julia Wilde was nearest the pin. The hospitality of Fulford Heath was much appreciated and a very enjoyable day was had by all.
On Saturday, July 14th, the Tim Hall School of Golf held a golf day to raise funds for the development of Junior golf at Ross Golf Club. Over 100 people entered the Fourball Best 2 Competition, which was part of a day of fun golf events.
The ladies triumphed in this competition with a team of Sally Fycun, Sarah Forrest, Jen Gladwin and Fiona Lucas being overall winners with a fantastic score of 100.
