Ross Golf Club’s latest 2019 major honours board event, being the annual Gordon Blake Cup for its men members, was played in testing conditions with 109 entrants taking part.
It was 12 handicapper, Shaun Reynolds, whose quality driving and irons play enabled him to cope most effectively on the day. With two birdies in his front nine holes when he had dropped just four shots to par, he finished in fine style scoring five pars in his last six holes.
Shaun’s chasing pack was headed by 2017 Club Champion 18-year-old Cam Haines, who plays off a two handicap and had to settle for the runners-up spot with a gross par 72, net 70 round which included four birdies. Cam has been in fine form of late enjoying a top three finish when he took part in the Glos Golfing Union’s opening Duchess Salver Order of Merit event at Long Ashton Golf Club in Bristol. In competition with the top Amateur County players for the Ashton Vase, Cam’s 36 holes medal score of +4 puts him in a good place. He also aims to continuously improve in the game he has become dedicated to helped by the Ross Club’s highly professional development and coaching programmes designed to suit all aspiring golfers.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
