Ross Golf Club’s latest honours board major in their 2019 annual events programme was open to all sections and 64 members took part in the Winston Wildsmith Salver.
It provided the opportunity for two of the Ross Club’s thriving Juniors Section, who have both enjoyed prolific golfing seasons with teenagers Matty Dobbs and Rhys McGinley almost going head to head to gain top spot.
Fresh from his recent major success when Matty won the prestigious Traders Cup, the 13 handicapper started his round slowly, with 18 stableford points at the half way stage but his back nine holes delivered a massive 24 points which included two birdies and just one shot dropped to par.
Rhys’ achievements this year have earned him national newspaper recognition through the Justin Rose Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Championship where he is in third place in their net Leader-board league table for boys after his ten under par winning performance in the Knowle Golf Club Junior Open in May.
Rhys is currently furthering his interest in golf at Hartpury College and clearly his prominence in the 2019 UK Junior Championships sponsored by Justin Rose can only benefit him in his quest to ‘become the best that he can be’ - this being the hallmark of the Ross Club’s Head Professional Tim Hall and his School of Golf Academy team where Rhys and Matty are coached.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
