LAST weekend Kate Bibby, aged 14, won the Abu Dhabi Ladies Amateur Open. The event was played at the beautiful Yas Links Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, which has the position of the No. 44 best golf course in the world.

Kate finished the event at 1 over par and that was enough to secure the title by two clear shots. Kate said: “It was another tough event on a great course, the winds were strong and with it being a links course, it adds to the difficulty level. I played a little up and down, with lots of birdies but just a few more bogeys than I would have liked. However, it was just enough to seal the win, so I really can’t complain.”

Tim Hall, from the Ross Golf Club, (who coaches Kate) commented: “It’s really good to see Kate follow up her Dubai Ladies Amateur title with another great win in Abu Dhabi. I know she had a slow start to the winter but Kate has really finished strong, and that is good as Kate returns to Ross GC next month to spend the summer back home.”See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
