A typical unsung hero and a man who has Ross Rowing Club running through him like a name in a stick of rock, John Price has devoted himself to his beloved sport and to Ross Rowing Club for over 30 years.

In appreciation of everything John Price has done over the years for the Club, he was nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Midlands Sports Unsung Hero Award, and was shortlisted as one of the top ten contenders in a list which also included Olympic medallists.

On December 4th John was invited to the BBC's Mailbox headquarters in Birmingham. Sadly John did not win the award but family and friends were delighted that he had been nominated and his wife Iris is extremely proud of her husband and all the wonderful things people said about him.
