Ross travelled to Luctonians on Friday night for round two of the market town sevens. After emerging from round one at Ledbury unbeaten Ross knew they would be targeted as the team to beat, especially against teams ranked much higher in league rugby. First up were hosts and national league Luctonians.
The hosts started strongly retaining possession and looking to avenge the Ledbury defeat. However, the Ross defence was imperious sniffing out every propping attack with some very physical tackling and rucking. This proved too much for Luctonians as Ross ran in four tries with Luctonians only scoring once late on and Ross were off to the perfect start. Next up were Bromyard. Unfortunately for them Ross upped their game another notch and ran in ten unanswered tries with Harry Haile, Billybob, Gavin Oates, Dan Field and Jordan Marsh all chipping in with scores.
This just left Ledbury in the final match. This was a tense encounter as both sides looked to finish round two with a win. But again it was Ross's physicality that proved too much for Ledbury and Ross ran out comfortable three tries to nil winners with the last try the coup de grace as winger Jordan Marsh controlled a floated pass on his left foot before flicking it into his hands before running in to score.
Round three is at Bromyard on Thursday August 17th before the grand final at Greytree, Ross on Sunday September 2nd, where Ross will also officially open their new changing rooms at the ground.
There will be loads to do on that day for all the family so please come on down and join in with the fun.
