IT was a busy start to the Head season for Ross-on-Wye Rowing Club, with some great stand-out performances, first-time experiences and markers to improve upon for the season ahead.

On Sunday crews from across the club were competing at Monmouth Autumn Head over a distance of 2500m.

The loudest cheer of the day was reserved for club member Dan Bailey who rowed in Monmouth’s first ever adaptive rowing event. Dan, who suffers from cerebral palsy, recently obtained the PR3 adaptive rowing classification with the support of stalwart club member Mike Jones. Rowing with Greg Powell in a double scull in a strong head wind, Dan delivered an extremely credible time of seven minutes 47 secs, worthy of a medal.
