Conditions could hardly have been better for the 117 members who took part in Ross Golf Club's first major competition of 2012. This being the Club's third Winter Stableford event which determines the 12 members who will be invited to compete in the final in March to win the 2012 Barnfield Trophy. 27 handicapper, Neil Morris, will certainly feel that his new golfing year has started in style for his 43 points total made him the top performer of the day, and meant that he will now be competing off a 25 handicap. Equally 22 handicapper Simon George will be delighted with his 43 points haul which made him runner-up and contributed to his 1 shot handicap reduction. Also in Handicap Division 2 Neil and Simon were followed by John Allen, whose recent new lease of golfing life continued with an excellent 42 points score, and David Price who was able to sustain his considered potential with 41 points. Andrew Petersen and Andrew Hobbs both returned 40 points score-cards to ensure their respective qualification for the March decider.
In handicap Division 1, the final results table was headed by Paul Cresswell with 41 points, just getting the better of Nigel Montague with 40 points and this was followed by Colin Bennion, Michael Lawrence, Stephen Forrest, Doug Duncanson and Nick Swan who all scored 39 points each. Bill Knapper and James Price, son of afore-mentioned David, were 38 points scorers.
