In his first year as President of Ross Golf Club, Neville Ovens was delighted that 139 members from all sections of the Club were able to support his well run and thoroughly enjoyable, Annual President's Prize qualifying Stableford event. Conditions on the day were not entirely conducive to good scoring and 13 Handicapper, Andy Owen-Smith, with 10 pars on his scorecard as he came to play his final hole must have been aware that he would finish in the top 10. However, his impressive birdie 3 at the challenging 18th hole transformed his score to a winning 41 points total and made him the day's top performer resulting in a 1 shot handicap reduction to 12. This meant that David Duberley and Graham Stonadge, who both scored 40 points, each had to settle for the joint runners-up spot, followed by Roger Alford's 39 points.
