Ross and District Motor Sports Club held their first Winter Auto-test of the season on Saturday, November 19th. Twelve people attended, on a cold afternoon, to complete four tests at Ross Cattle Market.
Richard McLachian was the overall winner of the event in his Peugeot 205 and he also won class 1 for front wheel drive cars.
Ollie Jenkins was the winner in class 4 for rear wheel drive cars and, at his first event, having only just turned 14, Rob Wilson won the production car class. Had he been older, and held a road licence, his time would have given him a sixth overall. However, it was an outstanding result considering the Micra was a new car to him and he has only just started driving. His name is one to watch out for as he is starting junior stage rallying in 2017.
The club hosted a Marshal’s accreditation training seminar on Thursday 17th November. This was open to all local clubs to facilitate the new Motor Sport Association rulings for 2017 requiring all stage marshals to have undergone the latest training. The event was well attended and the club is indebted to Neil Fuller for running the event on behalf of the MSA.
The club’s next event will be held at the cattle market on Saturday, December 3rd, at 12 o’clock. Ross and District Motor Sports Club is very grateful to Graham Spencer and the marshals for organising the start of the winter season events.
