The weather came especially good just in time for their final winter event in the calendar for Ross Seniors members to take place, and with 66 on board in a drawn team yellow ball competition, there was much to enjoy both on and off the course.

For Ross Seniors Captain, Richard Escolme there was the delight of leading his team, which included Alan Thompson and Ken Vowles, to an impressive victory with 127 stableford points and not for the first time, Ken Vowles, in contributing 50 of them, showed how effective he can be off a 24 handicap. Seniors Vice Captain, Richard Topping, along with Barry Le Feuvre and Jim Riley, made an excellent fist of finishing runners-up with 124 points, with 3rd place prize-winners being Martin Johnson, Phillip Bull and David Peacock only just off the pace with 122 points.

A few days later 84 Seniors and their wives were once more enjoying themselves in supporting the Seniors Annual Dinner. Richard Escolme was able to welcome and thank his main guest, Club President Di Honey, for proposing the toast to Ross Golf Club in this, Di's final formal duty before she steps down in 2 weeks time, following the Club's AGM, having served 3 highly effective years in her ambassadorial role. Ross Lady Captain, Nesta Hirst was also thanked and generously appreciated when she delivered a highly amusing address which ideally suited the occasion. Seniors members were also grateful to Club Captain, Phil Wilson and Lady Vice-Captain, Rosemary Williams for joining them in this the highlight of their social programme, where the outcome again reflected well on the splendid efforts of Club Caterers, Joanne and Richard Brown and their team.

Keith Ray, as Master of Ceremonies, paid tribute to the tireless work undertaken by Patrick Curtis, now a non-golfer but who continues to play a key role administratively in ensuring that all men members at the Gorsley based club are able to sign-up and take part with impunity in a whole range of golfing competitions and events throughout the year.
