47 Ross Seniors golfers were not deterred by the indifferent weather and being able to play on main greens and tees and off the Club's designated 'yellow' course, meant for a challenging 16 holes Singles Stableford event in the second of their 2013 winter competitions' programme.
24 Handicapper Robin Taylor thoroughly enjoyed himself and with some steady play after an excellent start which saw 22 stableford points on his score-card after 9 holes, his ultimate 38 points total was always going to be a winning one and so it proved. Peter Shaw is making a regular habit of successful competition results and his 33 points total made him runner-up, at the head of a chasing pack that were never going to overtake Robin Taylor as winner. Graham Baum with 32 points received the 3rd place prize on count-back, just getting the better of Nick Swan and David M Rees who also carded 32 points scores. They were followed by Brian Morgan and Doug David with 31 points each. The Ross Seniors can now look forward to their next winter competition and lunch on Wednesday March 6th when they will be required to perform in a 1/2/3 Team Waltz event with a difference.
25 Members took advantage of the latest Saturday Roll-up Stableford competition, organised by Head Professional Tim Hall and his team and as the final score-sheet was headed by 3 members all with 38 points each, the day's prizes had to be decided on count-back. This made Craig Newman the overall winner followed by Joe Irvine as runner up and Steve Bartholomew in 3rd place. Charles Moore scored 37 points with Graham Jell and John Champion on 36 points each to just miss out on this occasion.
