The Ross Juniors U11 Girls futsal team made their way to a snowy Weobley for their final two games in the Herefordshire county futsal tournament - knowing that two wins would see them through to the final on March 4th.
They had two wins on their previous visit in late January against Belmont and Lads Club 55B, and so went into the games with a sense of optimism.
They were victorious over Tupsley in the first game, with a great defensive display from goal keeper Amber and defenders Violet, Hazel and Ruby, which helped our forwards Scarlett, Jenna and Alisha score some beautifully worked goals.
The girls went into the last game against their closest rivals Lads Club, knowing that only a win would see them through to the final.
It was a very tense affair to start, with both teams playing some lovely football. But there was some solid work in goal from Ruby, some great work from defenders Violet, Hazel and Amber, and some hard work from forwards Jenna, Alisha and Scarlett.
The girls went into the last few minutes on the front foot, and with virtually the last move of the game, some great passing from the back led to Scarlett one-on-one with the goal keeper and she finished with great confidence.
The girls were overjoyed with the result but showed great sportsmanship and clapped and shook hands with their opponents, before celebrating their great achievement.
