AFTER last week's surprise defeat, Ross got back to winning ways on Saturday with a hard fought away win over Bristol Aero that consolidates them in second place in the league and, more importantly, in a promotion slot.

The home side looked to gain an advantage from the off, their bigger pack made it difficult for Ross to win any good ball from the scrimmage. However, some great work from Gavin Oates ensured that new scrum half Marcus Barnard got some ball to work with.

As always Ross looked to raise the tempo, but both defences were well drilled in the first quarter and it was penalties that prevailed. The home side held a slender 6-3 lead midway through the half.
