Held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham on May 19th, the club's winning performances came from Jeremy Picton-Turbervill who took the lead from the start and finished well ahead of the pack, before picking up his Gold medal in the Masters E1x IM3 National Championships and the Women's Master D4+ Nicky Wild, Sarah Sykes, Dawn Wilkinson and Annie Williams coxed by Skye Jenkins, (thanks to previous coach Marcus Constance and current coach Dave Sykes), had a fantastic race and held off stiff opposition from Nottingham to win a Silver medal. The crew trained hard and showed cohesion in terms of hard work and team spirit which showed magnificently in their performance even with a last minute addition. A great result for them and for Ross.
The Masters C coxed 4 crew (Paul Carpenter, Graham Watling, Tim Ball and Dave Sykes coxed by Anna Singleton) put in great performances through the heats over the 1000m course, just missing out on a medal in the final, whilst the Masters D coxed 4 crew of Mark Sleeman, Paul Watkins, Fred Jones and Robin Fletcher coxed by Anna Barker raced in a straight final and missed out on a third place by less than two seconds. The women's Masters B quad (Sharon Finch, Elaine Powell, Anna Singleton and Sally Pettipher, coached by Malcolm Pobjoy) raced in an open category and unfortunately came fifth. They raced again in women's Masters B coming 4th– better luck next time ladies! A mixed double of Sheron Dean Lucas and Mike Jones did a tough but good race and came 3rd.
