On a cold morning Ross travelled to Bridgend for an early push back, knowing that a win and other results going in their favour meant they could top the league.

With early pressure from the Bridgend forwards, Ross thought that it may be a long day, but with a couple of good saves by Laurance Raasch in the Ross goal, Ross soon settled and were moving the ball between the back four of Rich Jennison, Sam Warner, Marcus Constance and Dave Skyrme, with ease; which has been missing in recent games.

With a re-shape from recent weeks with Luke Ward pushing into mid field and Ash Williams to the forward line, Ross looked a much more structured team and soon got the first goal through good team play which ended with Tom Walton assisting Euan Aitken to slide the ball home.

Ross continued the pressure and soon gained further advantage through good work down the left by Kristian Franklin, who fed the ball to sub Theo Phillips, who found Ash Williams inside the D and his first time shot nestled in the bottom corner of the goal. This meant that Ross went into half time 2 up.

The half time talk comprised of the team knowing that Bridgend had scored in all home games this season and a clean sheet by Ross was what was required.

In the second half Bridgend stopped pressing and concentrated on their defence but this didn’t stop Ross, their passing game only improved. This led to the third goal, a good through ball by Luke Ward found Jonny Cross who shot first time and the keeper made a fine save only to parry it back to Jonny, who made no mistake the second time. By this time Bridgend appeared to have given up and resorted to other tactics which led to one of their players being green carded.

Ross took full advantage of the extra man and with super sub Andy Ridgeway at the top of the D, his strike was goal bound, but up popped Jonny Cross to get a stick on it to claim the goal making his second and four for Ross.

For the final 10 minutes Ross kept possession and had several more chances, including a fine cross by Frankie which found Euan at the back post, but unfortunately for him he managed to miss the ball.

The Team were L Raasch, D Skyrme, M Constance, S Warner, R Jennison, E Aitken, L Ward, T Walton, K Franklin, J Cross, A Williams, A Ridgeway, T Phillips

Other results in this league were indeed favourable and Ross sit two points clear at the top, next week Ross entertains bottom club Brecon, but nothing must be taken for granted.
