THE committee behind Ross Conservative Club have just purchased a community defibrillator, thanks to the additional financial support from Ross-on-Wye Lions Club.

The defibrillator cabinet, located on the side of the club coming into The Avenue, also contains a bleed kit also donated by Ross Lions Club, both these sets of equipment have been formally registered and are available, should the circumstance arise.

The main fundraiser was the Conservative Club’s bingo evening and raffle.

A spokesman for the Conservative Club said: “Our committee would like to thank all businesses and members that donated prizes and gave donations to make this fundraising event possible.

“We really do have the best community within Ross. What an incredible community effort.”

Lions Clubs across the UK and globally actively raise funds to purchase, install, and maintain Public Access Defibrillators in local communities.

These emergency access cabinets are locked with a code. If you dial 999 in a cardiac emergency, the ambulance service operator will provide the access code to unlock the nearest registered unit.

Public access defibrillators are designed to be used by the public. When you switch the defibrillator on, it will provide clear instructions and talk you through what you need to do.

There's no reason to feel nervous about using a defibrillator - just follow its simple instructions and know that using it could save someone's life.
