THE annual daffodil weekend in Dymock takes place this Saturday and Sunday March 21 and 22.
There will be trading tables in the village hall selling a variety of wares including jewellery, greetings’ cards, second handbooks, homemade cakes, glass ornaments, knitted toys and crochet ware among other items.
Refreshments will be served all day including bacon baps, home-made cakes and the popular cream scones.
There will be guided walk each day to see the daffodils, the first at 11am and the second at 2.30pm.
Walks will go where the daffodils are most prolific and information will also be available to see daffodils from a vehicle.
The walk in the morning will take about two-and-a half hours and the afternoon about one hour and a half.
Information available if you wish to go on a longer or shorter walk and dogs are welcome. Guided walks start from the Wintour’s Green outside St Mary’s Church.
The following weekend, March 28 and 29, the focus will be on the Oxenhall community, the third location in the Golden Triangle.
The narrow lanes around Kempley and Oxenhall become clogged with visiting cars somewhat taking the shine off the natural splendours people have come to see.
However, the Daffodil Line bus shuttle service will be running to take the pressure off these parking issues and will depart from Newent Lake bus stop between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
Rowena Clark, who helps to organise the Oxanhall Daffodil weekend said: “The shuttles have had a positive impact on our event as we no longer need to undertake a perilous walk along a narrow, fast country lane just to get to the site.
“The buses also help enormously with traffic congestion and pressure on our limited parking, while finally, the team at The Daffodil Line have been incredibly supportive, even mobilising extra volunteers for our dwindling Hall and Church team who run the event.”
