RESIDENTS are being invited to learn more about local healthcare services and how they can help shape them at a special health and wellbeing event in Ross-on-Wye later this month.

Alton Street Surgery will host a Health and Wellbeing Drop-In Session and Patient Participation Group (PPG) Awareness Event on Saturday, June 13, giving patients the chance to meet practice staff, ask questions and find out more about the support available through their local GP surgery.

The event will be led by Dr Simon Lennane, Senior GP Partner at the practice, and is designed to encourage greater community involvement in the future development of healthcare services in the town.

Visitors will be able to learn more about the services provided by the surgery, discover the role of the Patient Participation Group and explore ways they can become involved in helping improve care for local patients.

The PPG acts as a link between patients and the practice, providing feedback, sharing ideas and helping to ensure that patient views are considered when services are developed or reviewed.

Organisers say the event is open to everyone, whether they are interested in improving their own health and wellbeing, finding out more about the PPG or learning how they can support local healthcare services.

There will also be an opportunity for residents to speak directly with Dr Lennane, raise questions about the practice and share suggestions on how services can continue to meet the needs of the community.

Two sessions will take place during the day, from 11.30am to 1pm and from 3pm to 4.30pm, at Alton Street Surgery in Ross-on-Wye.

Practice manager Lindsey Curtis said the surgery is keen to promote the event widely and hopes it will encourage more people to engage with local healthcare and have their voices heard.

Everyone is welcome to attend, with no formal appointment required.
