There is some good news for people parking in Ross-on-Wye car parks after 6pm from February but on the whole charges are set to increase. New parking charges have been agreed by the Herefordshire Council’s cabinet following a review.
The changes will take effect on February 1st next year.
Currently charges are made from 8am to 10pm Monday to Sunday, but after the change the charges will apply from 8am to 6pm. This means residents, or those visiting the town’s pubs and restaurants, who park in council car parks after 6pm will not have to pay.
However a charge is being introduced at Wilton Road car park which is currently free. The charge will be £1 all day, every day.
Charges in Edde Cross Street will change to a flat rate of £1.50 for up to 24 hours and £1.00 on Sundays, this is an increased charge for short term parking, which is currently 60p for up to one hour and £1.10 for up to two hours but is higher than £1.50 for longer stays.
Charges at the other car parks in Ross are also set to change. Parking charges at Crossfields and the Corn Exchange car parks will increase to £1.00 for up to one hour, £1.50 for up to two hours, £2.00 for up to three hours, £2.50 for up to four hours and £5.00 for up to 24 hours, Monday to Saturday, then on Sunday it will be £1.00 all day. The biggest increase is to all day parking which is currently£3.10 and will go up by £1.90 to £5.00.
Charges in Homs Road will be reduced to £1.00 for up to 24 hours and in Kings Acre will be £1.50 for up to 24 hours and £1 for all day on Sunday.
Charges in Kyrle Street will increase to £1.50 for up to 24 hours and Sunday will be £1.00 all day.
Red Meadow Monday to Saturday will cost £1.00 for up to one hour, £1.50 for up to two hours, £2.00 for up to three hours, £2.50 for up to four hours and £5.00 for up to 24 hours. On Sunday the charge will be £1.00 all day.
Monday to Saturday in the Maltings will cost 60p for up to 30 minutes, £1.00 for up to one hour, £1.50 for up to two hours, £2.50 for up to three hours, with a maximum stay of three hours. It will cost £1 for all day on Sunday.
The implementation of contactless payment facilities will also be introduced.
